About this Program

The Summer Institute in Bioethics is designed to address a particular issue or subfield question in contemporary bioethics.  Each course will introduce key bioethics concepts and skills as they are used in addressing urgent moral issues of today.

Summer Institute courses focus on both theoretical and applied aspects of bioethics and are of practical value to students of public health, the life sciences, medicine, nursing and law.  Students engage with the Berman Institute's world-renowned faculty, including experts in the ethics of biomedical research and discovery, clinical practice, public health and health policy, and global health and research ethics.

Upon completion of the Summer Institute course(s), students should expect to be better prepared to analyze, evaluate, and address challenging moral issues in their chosen career fields and in larger society.  Prior course work or experience in bioethics is not required.
