Summer Institutes

International Students

Participants who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents must be admitted to the U.S. in the appropriate visa status; they also have the option of attending courses online, as remote participants. International participants seeking to attend courses onsite in Baltimore, Maryand must be able to secure their own immigration sponsorship (such as B1/B2 visitor) or enter the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program (through ESTA).

*Part-time internet-based MPH students who are participating in the Institutes must apply for F-1 student visas, since they are pursuing a degree program. Exceptions are made only on a case-by-case basis. Students should contact the OIS at ois@jhu.edu for more information.

It can take time to secure the appropriate visa stamp to enter the United States, so please plan accordingly. The Department of State makes estimated visa wait times available on their website.

Institute participants who do not heed this advice risk being denied entry to the U.S. at the port of entry.
