Alumni Profile: Brigitta Szeibert, MSPH ’23, RD

Brigitta Szeibert, MSPH ’23, RD

Brigitta Szeibert, MSPH ’23, RD, is a recent alumna of the Department of International Health’s Human Nutrition-Dietitian program. She currently works as a clinical dietitian at the California Rehabilitation Institute for Morrison Healthcare and is an implementation science research consultant for Vitamin Angels.

As a clinical dietitian with the California Rehabilitation Institute, Brigitta provides medical nutrition therapy to patients which includes nutrition assessments, education, diet monitoring, and other interventions. She also trains patient services staff and dietetic interns to improve treatment programs and patient satisfaction while also facilitating quality assurance and performance improvement programs.

Brigitta also works at Vitamin Angels, a public health nonprofit focused on improving maternal and child nutrition worldwide. Her work includes designing and implementing public health nutrition interventions and developing social behavior change communication materials, primarily focused on the early initiation of breastfeeding. She has also helped identify community program partners for multiple micronutrient supplements with Walgreens and supported data collection on-site at a federally qualified health center in the US-Mexico border region.

Brigitta earned her Master of Science in Public Health from the Bloomberg School of Public Health in May 2023 and completed a 38-week dietetic practicum in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. She completed rotations with the Baltimore City Public School system, the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, and the Women, Infants, and Children Program, with topical focuses in pediatrics, cardiology, diabetes, surgery, and outpatient counseling. Prior to attending the Bloomberg School, Brigitta completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a Bachelor of Arts in human biology and society with a concentration in medicine and public health.

Throughout her studies, Brigitta held various research, leadership, and volunteer positions. She worked as a research consultant for Vitamin Angels, helping to implement nutritional interventions and behavior change programs. She was also a volunteer medical staff member at the American Diabetes Association Camp Charm City, where she provided diabetic-focused nutrient treatment information and led nutrition education activities. Additionally, Brigitta was the assistant director of marketing for the DCC Young Professionals, helping develop digital marketing campaigns to help promote career development and network opportunities within Washington DC. During her time at the School, she received the Dr. Martha Wade Graduate Fellowship from the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and was recognized as a Phi Eta Sigma National Graduate Scholar.

Brigitta intends to continue her work in public health nutrition and is passionate about improving the nutritional status and health outcomes of vulnerable populations, especially women and children. She knows her public health journey is just beginning and is excited to continue to learn and help improve the standard of nutritional health care, education, and treatment interventions.
