Welcome to The Data Description Page for the Center for Prevention and Early Intervention and the Baltimore Prevention Program.

First Generation JHU PIRC Intervention Trial

The first generation JHU PIRC trial consisted of two cohorts of children who participated in an evaluation of two universal, school-based preventive interventions spanning grades 1 & 2, beginning in the 1985-86 and 1986-87 school years, respectively.  Data is available at the item and construct level from ages 6 (grade 1) to 19.  For a brief overview of the first generation JHU PIRC trial, please read our First Generation Methods and Measures Section located in the data documentation.  Data tables have been established so that researchers can see the assessments at the item and construct level over time.  To see the data tables with variable names and labels, click here

First Generation JHU PIRC Parallel Data Set: A file containing parallel items and constructs (items and constructs matched on a child's year in the study) for Cohorts 1 and 2 has been created. This file also contains data from the age 19-20 follow-up, or the Young Adult follow-up. To access the documentation for this file, go to the First Generation JHU PIRC Parallel Data Set Table of Contents .

A Young Adult Data Dictionary (variable names & descriptions) has been added to the site along with a list of the other items in the Young Adult data set. To see the Young Adult data dictionary, click here.

Second Generation JHU PIRC Intervention Trial

For a brief overview of the second generation JHU PIRC Intervention trial, please read our Second Generation JHU PIRC Intervention Trial Methods & Measures Section. The second generation JHU PIRC trial consisted of a single cohort of children who participated in an evaluation of two universal, school-based preventive intervention trials in grade 1, beginning in the 1993-94 school year.  Data has been collected at the item and construct level from ages 5 (kindergarten) to 18 (grade 12).
