Application Fee Waiver Requirements

Application fee waivers are available for applicants to MMI graduate programs who are U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents of the U.S. and meet additional eligibility criteria. Prospective students who do not meet eligibility criteria in these categories may request an application fee waiver with justification. Applicants may  request a fee waiver by emailing Alan Scott, PhD at ascott5@jhu.edu with subject line “SOPHAS Fee  Waiver for MMI.” For applicants to the doctoral program, waivers must be requested by November 15, 2024.

For applications to the master's degree programs, the deadline to request a fee waiver is by May 1, 2025.
Please note: fee waivers must be issued before submitting your application. We cannot issue reimbursements for the application fee.  
 

Applicants are Eligible for an Application Fee Waiver for:

  • Documented financial hardship  - or - 
  • Attendance at a VTSI-eligible undergraduate institution (review list of eligible MSIs here)
  • Application to an eligible VTSI PhD program (review list of eligible VTSI PhD programs here)
  • Participation in one of the following:
    • Attendance at Annual Biomedical Research Conferences for Minority Students (ABRCMS) 
    • Attendance at Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS)
    • HHMI Exceptional Research Opportunities Program (EXROP)
    • AAAS Entry Point!
    • Explore Hopkins (EHOP) Program
    • GEM Fellowship Program
    • Attendance at Neuroscience Outreach Program
