Public Health Practice and Training
We advance the skills of public health professionals through practice-based courses, training, internships, collaborations, and other programs.
Services Overview
Hands-on public health training and real-world practice are essential parts of the educational experience at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. The Office of Public Health Practice and Training facilitates practicums and other practice-based opportunities for students, builds partnerships with preceptors, and promotes interaction and collaboration between practice partners and the School.
The MPH Practicum
The MPH practicum requirement provides each student the opportunity to engage in applied practice activities aligned with their career goals and interest areas. All public health professional degree students (MPH, MSPH, DrPH) are required to complete a practicum experience.* MPH students may meet this requirement either through courses with a practicum component or through a self-designed practicum.
*For non-MPH professional degrees, see program-specific practicum requirements.
Become a Preceptor
The Bloomberg School facilitates practicum placements and internships at organizations ranging from local public health agencies to international NGOs. Discover opportunities for working with Bloomberg School students to advance your organization's work and impact.
