Description
Injury is a leading cause of death for Americans. Major causes of injury and mortality include homicide, suicide, overdose, and unintentional injury. This course will provide public health professionals with fundamental skills to monitor and address injury and violence problems in the US.
Provides fundamental training in injury control. Covers epidemiology and surveillance of the leading types of injuries, and approaches to prevention and policy development.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Critically evaluate approaches to injury prevention at the local, state, and national levels
  2. Analyze sources of data on fatal and nonfatal injury
  3. Apply principles and practices of injury control at the local, state, and national levels

This course is evaluated as follows:
