Waist Size Linked to Diabetes Risk in Adult Men

The circumference of a man’s waist is a better predictor of his risk of developing type 2 diabetes than his body mass index, which is a weight-to-height ratio, or waist-to-hip ratio alone.

More Balance between Primary-Care and Specialist Physicians Could Improve U.S. Health

Communities with more primary-care physicians have lower mortality rates, according to an analysis by researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and New York University. The researchers also found that having more specialty-care physicians in a community did not have the same positive impact on health and that increasing the number of specialists would not improve the health status of the U.S. population when compared to other industrialized countries.

The Bloomberg School requires all media guests–including print and electronic reporters, photographers, producers, and videographers–to coordinate with a Bloomberg School media representative in advance of their visit, ideally with 48-hours notice. This applies to all School-affiliated buildings, offices, and facilities. 

Bloomberg School media guests will be accompanied by a communications staff member throughout their entire visit.
