Global Mental Health T32 Training Grant
What is the Global Mental Health T32 Training Grant?
The Global Mental Health T32 Training Grant (T32MH103210) from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is designed to support pre- and post-doctoral trainees in gaining advanced research training in mental health and behavioral sciences.
The grant plays a critical role in fostering new talent and advancing the field of global mental health research. T32 trainees work closely with faculty mentors who are established researchers in the field of Global Mental Health. This mentorship provides guidance, feedback, and networking opportunities. With T32 funding available, we aim to produce highly skilled researchers who can contribute to Global Mental Health through innovative research and evidence-based practices.
What does funding include?
Through the T32 grant, pre- and post-doctoral trainees are provided with financial support in the form of stipend, tuition, health coverage, and some professional development resources. The funding supports the trainee’s research training and helps cover costs related to their education and research activities.
What are the training components?
- Research Experience: Trainees engage in hands-on research under the guidance of experienced mentors. This can include designing, conducting, and analyzing research projects related to Global Mental Health.
- Didactic Training: Trainees receive formal instruction in relevant subjects, including research methods, statistics, and public mental health.
- Professional Development: The program emphasizes skill development for a successful research career, such as grant writing, scientific communication, and career planning, as well as networking with other global mental health researchers in the US and internationally.
Who is eligible?
T32 recipients must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. and demonstrate a strong interest in mental health research.
