Program for Implementation and Equity Research

The Program for Implementation and Equity Research (PIER) applies epidemiological and implementation science methods to health equity research in the U.S. and globally. Our work is anchored and guided by a lens to advance human rights. We research health equity, conduct work with stigmatized and historically disenfranchised populations, and focus on social and structural determinants of health -  which may include topics such as gendered health outcomes, housing, violence and trauma, policies of criminalization, and climate change. Our work seeks to study the presence and impact of health inequities, test strategies to address inequitable health outcomes, and advocate for the implementation and evaluation of policies to optimize health and wellness for all.

Women's Health Rights

Women's Health Rights

Our programs address gender-based violence and other gender disparities in general populations of women and girls, and high risk groups of adolescents, women who trade sex, and those in post-conflict and under-served settings.

Conflict and Health

We seek to end attacks on health services, preserve and reconstruct health systems affected by conflict, and address ethical and human rights issues at the intersection of health and national security.
