Description
Are you interested in learning about how communicate gender-responsive science? Do you want to learn about, and develop, novel approaches to communicating gender-responsive science? Even when there is evidence we still don't see change. Learn why in this course on communicating gender-responsive research.
Illustrates the critical need for communicating gender-related science to different audiences from policy makers, to implementors, to community members. Uses a feminist approach and feminist standpoint theory to generate awareness about different origins and types of knowledge and how they are valued in science communication. Outlines key principles related to the ethics of science communication and evidence-based policy making. Introduces aims of, and strategies for, science communication, providing students opportunities to practice communicating gender-related science through applied activities.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Describe the aims and the principles of science communication
  2. Explain the need for communicating gender-responsive research
  3. Critique existing strategies for science communication and communicating gender-responsive research
  4. Develop novel approaches to communicating gender-responsive research
