Description
Focuses on the areas of performance improvement and project management to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations. Includes hands-on field experience in an inpatient or outpatient healthcare delivery setting. Develops skills in rapid-cycle improvement techniques and assessment. Introduces topics in this course that will be experientially designed to enhance hands-on learning and application.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Apply tools and frameworks from Lean Six Sigma for rapid-cycle operational improvement, including process mapping, qualitative interviews, observational time studies, and root-cause analysis
  2. Employ tools and techniques to improve project management skills, organization, planning and execution, meeting management, and key stakeholder engagement
  3. Perform observational data collection and analysis and outcomes reporting
  4. Work collaboratively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders in a real-world healthcare delivery setting
