Evaluates in depth the influence of globalization on population health across the four main dimensions of globalization (economic, political, cultural and environmental) through theory and case studies. Teaches the use of analytical tools to observe the impact of globalization on population health.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Appraise the key concepts related to globalization and its impact on health, including its economic, political, social, and environmental dimensions
- Apply the basic methods to measure globalization, understanding their strengths and limitations
- Critically assess the theoretical frameworks, analytical tools and ethical consequences based on real-world case studies
- Propose evidence-based strategies using a structured framework to catalyze the opportunities of globalization and mitigate its negative effects
