Spatial Analysis for Public Health (601.731.86), Spatial Data Technologies for Mapping (601.732.86), Spatial Analysis Lab 1 (601.931.86), Introduction to Epidemiology (600.701.86), Public Health Statistics 1 (600.711.86).
Applies spatial concepts and GIS skills previously learned towards new data and new problems. Refreshes students' skill set in GIS by producing map(s) for data from various sources provided, which will be performed without the use of step-by-step instructions. Introduces how R can be used as a GIS and begins learning how to code in R to perform various GIS tasks and map making. Provides limited lectures provided for guidance and clarity but the majority of the work will be activity-based.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Reinforce GIS skill set using ArcGIS Pro.
- Gain exposure to how R can be used as a GIS.
- Learn how to code in R for spatial data preparation, mapping, and summarizing spatial relationships.

- 90% Assignments (3)
- 10% Participation on the Discussion Forum and LiveTalks
