Introduces the basic principles and frameworks for research and public health ethics as well as concepts in professional and research integrity as a public health professional. Provides introductory material and case discussions on public health ethics and public health research ethics with emphasis on examples from the Covid-19 pandemic.
Learning ObjectivesUpon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Distinguish the principles and frameworks of bioethics, public health ethics, and research ethics
- Articulate why and how ethics considerations for public health ethics are different from those usually given priority in medical ethics
- Apply the principles and frameworks of bioethics to real cases in public health practice and public health research
