Overview

Ira Gooding serves as Director of Continuing & Executive Education in the Office of Academic Affairs and as an Associate in the Department of Health Policy & Management.

He formerly served as Assistant Director for Open Education in the Center for Teaching and Learning. Since 2012, Ira has collaborated with Bloomberg School faculty on the development of more than 90 MOOCs, including the marquee Data Science Specialization taught by faculty from the Department of Biostatistics and the COVID-19 Contact Tracing course taught by Emily Gurley. From 2016-2025, Ira served as Provost’s Fellow for Digital Initiatives, contributing to the ongoing evolution of digital education at Johns Hopkins. Ira holds a Master’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park.
