Overview

I am currently an associate faculty member and doctor of public health (DrPH) candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. I also currently serve as the director of the Syria Relief & Development (SRD), 501(c)(3) humanitarian NGO operating on the ground in Syria. I received my bachelor's degree in human biology and psychology and master's degree in health services administration from the University of Kansas. For the 2022-2023 academic year, I was a visiting scholar at Brown University in its Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies of the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. As a passionate practitioner and academic, I have guest lectured on humanitarian, public health, and human rights topics at multiple universities, including Johns Hopkins, Brown, Georgetown, Emory, Tulane, American University of Beirut, Carleton University, and the Naval War College. I also briefed the United Nations Security Council in 2020 alongside ERC Mark Lowcock and again in 2021 alongside ERC Martin Griffiths, in addition to other speaking engagements at the Atlantic Council, International Peace Institute, Brookings Institution, United States Institute of Peace, Center for Strategic and International Studies, and The Washington Institute. I have held multiple leadership and advisory roles, including the World Health Organization Implementing Best Practices Network Steering Committee; DisasterReady Advisory Group; American Red Cross Board of Directors (Douglas County Chapter); and Durable Solutions Platform & Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health Research Reference Group.
