Overview
Jacky Jennings, MPH ’98, PhD ‘03.  Dr. Jennings is an infectious disease, social epidemiologist and a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She holds joint appointments in the Departments of Epidemiology, Health, Behavior and Society, and Population, Family and Reproductive Health in the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Jennings is a leading expert on infectious disease transmission dynamics and the overarching goal of her work is to reduce extreme racial, sexual minority and youth disparities in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV.

She is the Director of the Center for Child and Community Health Research (CCHR), a center which focuses on the translation of evidence on disparities to public health practice. Since 2012, she has been the Director of the Biostatistics, Epidemiology And Data management (BEAD) Core which provides research support services to investigators across the school of medicine. She is a CDC and NIH funded investigator including an ongoing prospective cohort study among sexual minority men to study the transmission dynamics of syphilis and HIV.

Dr. Jennings served as a Board Member for the International Society for STD Research (ISSTDR) from 2011 to 2018, and has been the Chair or Co-Chair of numerous scientific tracks at national and international STI conferences. Dr. Jennings serves on the editorial boards of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and the Journal of Urban Health.

She is an active mentor with mentees ranging from STEM high school students to junior faculty. She is the mother of two and daughter of an immigrant.
