Xiaodong brings more than 20 years of experience in international development. He started as a health system researcher at the World Bank in 2002. He moved to New York in 2006 and worked at United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on multiple assignments, as a health statistician, a data specialist and a monitoring and evaluation specialist. He joined United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2017 as a policy specialist in the Development Impact Group and became the Team Lead of the Results and Performance Analytics unit in 2023.
Xiaodong was originally trained as a medical doctor from Peking Union Medical College (China). He then studied public health and earned his PhD in International Health Systems from Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (United States). He lives with his wife, two children and a golden retriever named Aspen
