Dr. Andreea Creanga is a scientist and professor at the Johns Hopkins University with joint faculty appointments in the Departments of International Health; Population, Family and Reproductive Health; and Gynecology and Obstetrics. Her current work focuses on implementing and evaluating sexual, reproductive, and maternal health quality and safety interventions, domestically and internationally, with a key interest in measurement innovations. She has 20 years of experience conducting research and evaluating family planning and maternal health programs in the US and in low- and middle-income countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Over the years, her work has been funded by the US Government (AHRQ, CDC, HRSA, NIH), UN agencies, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Creanga serves as member of the Maryland Maternal Mortality Review Committee, World Health Organization’s Maternal Mortality Estimation Technical Working Group, and United Nations’ Stillbirth Estimation Group, and as co-editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Reproductive Health
