The Hopkins Business of Health Initiative welcomes U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra for a fireside chat about health and climate – the threat to human health, the challenge of environmental justice, and the administration’s unprecedented efforts to help hospitals and health systems reduce their own considerable carbon footprint. With the health sector currently responsible for 8.5 percent of the country’s greenhouse emissions, it’s a big task.

After the conversation, we will host a panel discussion with health care leaders about how the industry and providers are trying to bring about change.

This event is presented by the Hopkins Business of Health Initiative (HBHI), which integrates scholarship across Johns Hopkins University through partnerships between the Carey Business School, Bloomberg School of Public Health, School of Nursing, and School of Medicine around a shared vision of a healthier America, supported by an affordable and equitable, high-value health system.  In pursuit of this vision, HBHI's work focuses on the role of business and incentives through rigorous, objective, non-partisan, interdisciplinary research.
