10th Pickart Lecture: Signaling through the ubiquitin-proteasome system
Please join us at the 2024 Pickart Lecture on Monday, October 14 presented by Brenda A. Schulman, Director, Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry.
The Pickart Lecture honors the contributions of Professor Cecile Pickart, who passed away in 2006. Cecile made foundational discoveries about the role of ubiquitin. She was also known for her mentoring of students and postdocs and excellence in teaching.

Brenda A. Schulman
Brenda Schulman is broadly interested in regulation by the ubiquitin system. Her lab discovers and defines ubiquitylation pathways and mechanisms. Structures from the Schulman lab have defined fundamental enzymology of the major classes of ubiquitylating enzymes, and their regulation from assembly, to activation and inhibition, and ultimate decommissioning. A current focus is using the lab's in-depth structural knowledge to develop new tools to probe dynamic cellular signaling through the ubiquitin system.
