Anaise Williams, PhD, MPH, and Colleen Stuart, PhD, will discuss women’s economic participation as a key component of broader gender equity goals, investigating measurement strategies and the role and influence of social norms and partners. Dr. Williams will speak to measurement of gendered practices in economic participation and how gender-based violence can be used to limit and control women’s economic agency. Dr. Stuart will present quantitative research examining whether and how marrying within one's occupation can benefit women's career attainment.

Colleen Stuart, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Her research focuses on gender inequality in organizations and social networks, the promotion gap, as well as collaborative work.

Anaise Williams, PhD, is an Assistant Scientist in the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research portfolio addresses the topic areas of gender-based violence prevention, women’s economic empowerment, reproductive health, and gender equity.
