The Johns Hopkins School of Public Health is honored to welcome Michelle Lujan Grisham, Governor of the State of New Mexico, for a virtual fireside chat to discuss health policy solutions for New Mexico and beyond, as well as strategies for leading on public health and policy issues.
Bloomberg School Dean Ellen MacKenzie will host the discussion, which will cover topics such as: addressing poverty and health inequities, education as a public health tool, efforts to improve indigenous health, and more.
The conversation will be available via livestream and shared via recording after the event.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Michelle Lujan Grisham is the thirty-second governor of the state of New Mexico, the first Democratic Hispanic woman to be elected governor in U.S. history. As governor, Lujan Grisham has implemented a series of evidence-based policies aimed at transforming New Mexico’s public education system, expanding the state’s economy to include more high-quality employment opportunities and preserving New Mexico’s air, land and water.
Ellen J. MacKenzie is the 11th dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. MacKenzie leads an organization that includes over 800 full-time faculty working in 60 countries and teaching more than 2,900 students from 87 nations. Under Dean MacKenzie’s leadership, the School seeks lifesaving solutions across a broad range of issues from chronic and infectious disease prevention to immunology, nutrition and child survival.

The series is jointly hosted by the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the School of Nursing, the Carey Business School, and Johns Hopkins Medicine. The forum provides an opportunity for Johns Hopkins faculty, students, and operational experts to engage with policy makers and explore contemporary health policy approaches.
