The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) invites you to learn some simple, basic skills that, when turned into good habits, can go a long way toward creating and editing materials that are accessible, sustainable, and better for everyone. Focusing on Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, this session will provide several concrete steps that not just meet but go beyond the built-in accessibility checkers. Whether you’re new to this, need a refresher, or maybe you’ve simply been focusing on “passing a check”, then this session is for you.
By the end of the workshop you should be able to:
- Meet the minimum digital accessibility expectations of Johns Hopkins faculty.
- Know what tools are available in Microsoft products to help you get there.
- Understand why we can’t rely on automated checkers alone.
- Know the value in employing these skills all the time, with every document, and not just “when you have time” or “when it really matters”. (HINT: it matters all the time!)
This session will be held online using Zoom and ALL are welcome to join. Registration is required! Please register using this link.
NOTE: This event will be recorded, but is best attended synchronously. We hope to offer it multiple times during the year.
