Alexa Freedman, PhD

Research Scientist
NorthShore University HealthSystem

Alexa Freedman is a Research Scientist at NorthShore University HealthSystem. Her research focuses on how maternal exposures, including psychosocial stress, affect fetal development and pregnancy outcomes. She is also interested in the underlying biological mechanisms, with a particular focus on alterations in placental development and function.

She earned her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health in 2018 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University and NorthShore University HealthSystem in 2022.
