The Bystander Intervention Training Program is a 90-minute, peer-led*, interactive workshop designed to provide graduate students with the skills to respond when someone is the target of inequitable treatment. The workshop will primarily focus on gender and race-based harm, but we will consider a variety of identities throughout our time together. We will cover strategies for intervening in public instances of oppressive interpersonal harm while considering the safety of everyone involved. Participants will have the opportunity to practice these strategies in response to real-world situations. We will also talk about ways to build a healthier climate that prevents harm.

Learning Outcomes
•    Participants will be able to describe types of gender- and race-based violence.
•    Participants will be able to use strategies to intervene in instances of power-based violence.
•    Participants will be able to identify proactive steps that help build a climate that prevents power-based violence.

*The presentation is designed to be 90 minutes (including time for pre and post surveys). If peer-trainers are unavailable due to scheduling conflicts, the session may be delivered by staff.
