Basic understanding of qualitative research approaches

Description
Photovoice is a qualitative research method that is informed by principles of community based participatory research and incorporates photography as part of data collection. It has quickly become a popular methodology because of its engaging and participatory qualities, and potential for advocacy and action.
Provides an overview of how Photovoice can be applied in public mental health research and interventions. Introduces theories and frameworks that inform Photovoice. Presents approaches to Photovoice study design, data collection, analysis and dissemination.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Identify Photovoice methodology
  2. Describe how Photovoice can be used in mental health research
  3. Plan and design a small Photovoice project
