Description
Do you want to conduct evidence-based research to promote local and global health equity? Are you ready to apply theories to real-world situations, but you are unsure how to take the next step? This course will provide you with innovative methods, practical tools, and skills to conduct evidence-based research that promotes health equity in the US and internationally.
Introduces innovative methods, practical tools, and skills required to conduct evidence-based research that addresses the social determinants of health disparities. Draws on theoretical frameworks on fundamental values and principles, including social justice, human rights, the value of diverse ideas and stakeholder perspectives, inclusiveness, trustworthiness, behavioral and implementation science, and community-based participatory design. Uses lectures, panel discussions, and case-based examples to provide opportunities in obtaining feedback on ideas from experienced investigators.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate how social, policy, and community factors drive health and healthcare inequities.
  2. Identify social, policy, and community frameworks and measures for health equity research.
  3. Utilize innovative health equity research methods to address social determinants.
  4. Apply evidence-based strategies for building stakeholder partnerships to enhance research
