Description
Provides opportunities to discuss issues and concepts related to Global Health: Policy and Evaluation. Discusses evaluation of existing research, identification of gaps and topics, and design of research projects. Facilitates preparation for the comprehensive written exams, the design and conduct of practicum projects, preliminary oral exams, dissertation projects, and the final oral exam. Provides opportunities to present work-in-progress on overall projects and on specific research methodologies and to give and receive peer feedback. Emphasizes clear communication of ideas.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Present and evaluate research related to global health policy and evaluation
  2. Critically appraise practicum projects, research proposals, and dissertation projects
  3. Demonstrate skills in leadership, communication, and public health practice
  4. Demonstrate progress toward completion of a dissertation proposal and project
