Simultaneously, Indigenous peoples are at the forefront of many environmental and health challenges that directly impact the physical, mental, and cultural health of individuals and entire communities. To address these challenges, it is crucial to incorporate public health approaches that are grounded in Indigenous perspectives of the interconnected relationships between people, the environment, and human health.
Examines real-world examples and approaches to environmental health issues in Indigenous communities and presents challenges for implementing Indigenous-centered approaches to address current issues. Discusses the role and influence of Tribal and federal policy on Indigenous environmental challenges.
