Description
Are you interested in the relationship between gender, health, and the economy? Do you want to learn how to undertake gender budgeting? Failure to reduce gender inequity may be because oftentimes policies and programs are not mainstreamed, thereby limiting the consistency needed with a policy effort. A solution is integrating gender policy efforts in regular budgets and policies, a process referred to as gender-mainstreaming or gender-responsive budgeting.
Explains how gender can be integrated into budgeting for health policies, programs, and strategies. Builds gender-responsive budgeting skills that can address various forms of gender inequity in health outcomes. Provides economic tools to analyze trends and discuss policies, tools, and strategies available.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Analyze how gender norms affect economic and health outcomes
  2. Acquire the gender-responsive budgeting skills to conduct gender review of socio-economic and demographic development policies, programs and strategies
  3. Evaluate gender-sensitive and gender-specific health outcomes and how that could be integrated in health policies and programs without drawing separate budgets, policies, and programs to address them
