Description
Covers advanced concepts in a number of translationally important aspects of immunology including autoimunity, transplanation, cancer therapy, immunity to infectious diseases, sex in immunity, cardiac immunology, immunometabolism, and vaccination using the fundamentals of immune interactions covered in Principles of Immunology I, Principles of Immunology II.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Define the principles of autoimmunity and transplantation
  2. Define the basis underlying primary and acquired immune deficiencies
  3. Define the immune mechanisms employed to combat bacterial, viral and parasitic infections
  4. Define the mechanisms that regulate allergy and hypersensitivity
  5. Define the mechanisms for immunization
  6. Define the importance of immunometbolism
  7. Define the influence that biological sex has on the immune response
