Discusses over two sessions the assigned paper from historic or current scientific literature. Covers only the methodologies and how they work in the first session, the second covers the scientific advancements achieved with these methods. Includes both student and faculty discussion leaders for each session.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Interpret the scientific evidence that supports the basic principles of molecular biology
- Explain basic molecular biology methods used in the research laboratory
- Identify the limitations of experimental methods to determine if the published evidence supports the authors’ conclusions

- 50% Participation
- 50% Reading Assignments
This is the onsite section of a class also held virtually/online.
You are responsible for the modality in which you register. Designed for masters students with basic understanding of DNA, RNA, proteins and cellular organelles, with or without laboratory experience.
