How and why do health and healthcare disparities exist? What are solutions for health and healthcare disparities?
Provides an opportunity for students, postdoctoral trainees, and faculty to present scientific papers from the current and/or classic health disparities literature. Emphasizes presentation skills and the ability to critically evaluate scientific papers. Requires participants to read and discuss the assigned material.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Read and critically evaluate scientific papers
- Lead discussions and present research related to health and/or healthcare disparities
- Describe patterns of health outcomes by race, geography, and socioeconomic status
