Why did you choose this program?
I chose the MSOEH at Johns Hopkins because I wanted additional education to prepare for the Certified Industrial Hygienist exam. The Hopkins program being part-time and online was perfect for me as a working EHS consultant.
What was your favorite course?
My favorite course was Professor Ramachandran's Exposure Assessment Techniques for Health Risk Management. It focused on the current standards and methods that I could immediately implement to improve the exposure assessments for my clients. I particularly enjoyed the courses that we attended in person and meeting with the faculty to discuss their research.
My favorite thing about Hopkins has been the network of students and professors that I connected with and who have inspired my current work.
What advice would you give a prospective student who's considering enrolling in this program?
This program was excellent prep for my CIH exam. I was able to use these materials to prepare without having to do another prep course. There is also a shorter certificate program, the Environmental and Occupational Health Certificate Program, that could be considered if you are unsure of the commitment and want exposure to the courses and content.
What is your favorite thing about going to Johns Hopkins?
My favorite thing about Hopkins has been the network of students and professors that I connected with and who have inspired my current work. Through the MSOEH program, I became interested in research and am now pursuing a PhD in Environmental Health at the Bloomberg School and call Baltimore home.
