More than 20 members of the Environmental Health and Engineering Student Organization, as well as faculty members, kicked off the academic year recently with a hike at Great Falls National Park, which straddles Maryland and Virginia, and is divided by the Potomoc River.

"We held this event because students really want to know the natural environment in the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia area as part of our work in environmental health and engineering. While organizing the events, we also considered bringing reusable water bottles, bulk water packs, and carpooling to make sure the trip was environmental friendly. Students and professors shared the joy of the beautiful DMV autumn scenery," said Esther Xu, president of EHESO.
