Using Population-Based Surveys to Understand the Maternity Care Experience of Women in Ethiopia: Evidence from PMA Ethiopia

Dr. Linnea Zimmerman has a PhD from the Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a Masters in Public Health from Emory University. She has a background in demography and focuses on family planning and women's reproductive health research. She is the PI of the PMA Ethiopia project, a longitudinal study implemented in Ethiopia to evaluate use and barriers to critical maternal and newborn health interventions. As the Associate Director of Research for PMA, Linnea Zimmerman works with the leadership team and country partners to develop and implement research across all of our countries and work to improve PMA data utilization and accessibility. She is also a member of the Global Early Adolescent Study, focusing on how to improve measurement of empowerment among young adolescents.

Elizabeth Stierman, PhD, MPH

Dr. Elizabeth Stierman is a public health scientist with expertise in program evaluation, implementation research, and quality improvement. Her research focuses on developing and evaluating approaches to improve quality of care, address social determinants, and advance equity in maternal and child health. She has over a decade of practice-based experience as a program manager and technical advisor, collaborating with health authorities and communities to design, implement, and evaluate health programs in a variety of domestic and international settings. She is currently a co-investigator on the Maryland Maternal Health Innovation Program (MDMOM) and a World Health Organization (WHO) project providing statistical, analytic, and programmatic support for maternal and child health.
