Gwen DuBois MD, MPH practiced internal medicine in Baltimore for many years and now, mostly retired, teaches medical students as a part time instructor in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.

In addition to being president of Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility,  co-founder of Prevent Nuclear War Maryland and previously of Crabshell Alliance (which worked to keep Calvert Cliffs from opening a third nuclear reactor), she is on the public health committee of the Maryland Medical Association. She was a citizen lobbyist at the preparatory meetings for the UN Nuclear Weapons Prohibition Treaty in NYC in 2017 and a civilian observer to the United Nations 2nd Meeting of Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons November 2023.  Dr. DuBois is on the National Board of Physicians for Social Responsibility, the American affiliate of the Nobel Peace Prize winning International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. She is on the steering committee of Back from the Brink national coalition of groups in support of the Back from the Brink Campaign which has passed “Back from the Brink” resolutions in 70 towns and cities, 76 counties and 7 state legislative bodies in the United States. Presently Chesapeake Physicians for Social Responsibility has helped write Back from the Brink joint resolutions which, as of March 8, have been heard in committees in both chambers of the state legislature.
