Provides students with experience in seven short exercises that explore a variety of aspects of cost-effectiveness analysis. Students learn how to link all the steps together to complete a full cost-effectiveness analysis from start to finish. During the two day course, students work in Microsoft Excel to setup a workbook that will allow them to complete a cost-effectiveness analysis, manipulate the results to explore multiple possible assumptions, and have the opportunity to share their work in a format that is easily accessible.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- Perform the technical steps necessary to produce a cost-effectiveness analysis using Microsoft Excel that includes a base-case analysis and univariate sensitivity analysis and that can be shared with other users of Microsoft Excel
- Interpret the results
- Write up the results in a format that is useful for decision makers, noting the perspective, the assumptions, the results, and the policy implications

This course is evaluated as follows:
- 40% Participation
- 60% Quizzes
This course will be offered in the HPM Summer Institute. Students will be required to listen to 4 hours of lecture, prior to the start of the course. This is the virtual/online section of a course also held onsite. You are responsible for the modality in which you register.
