Prepares students to conduct research regarding the distribution, determinants, and outcomes of unintentional and intentional injuries, and also to evaluate injury research studies.
Learning Objectives
Upon successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
- describe various sources of data for injury research
- identify the appropriate methodological approach for studying injuries
- understand some of the methodological challenges in studying an acute outcome such as injury;
- appreciate how epidemiologic data can be used to inform injury prevention policy and critically evaluate published injury studies
