JHU-IKU Health for Child Injury Prevention
Partnering with the Institute of Public Health within the Ministry of Health in Malaysia, our team worked to create a mobile-based app, "Childsafe," designed to assist parents and guardians by identifying common household injury hazards.
This novel application of mobile health (mHealth) approaches to a national injury prevention priority follows a capacity developing model that uses mHealth to conduct research around a nationally relevant issue. JHU and IKU collaborated to develop a locally relevant data registry and injury outcome tool, assessed its feasibility, and developed capacity to evaluate and follow outcomes in risk reductions. In the process, this strengthens mobile capacity expertise.
