This collection of resources are intended to support countries which are developing and executing effective cholera control and elimination strategies. The National Cholera Plan (NCP) Template provides a framework to create multi-sectoral, context-specific plans, guiding countries in setting objectives, strategies, and measurable milestones. This resource includes both a guided and a blank template, enabling customization based on each nation’s epidemiology and strategic priorities. The Interim Guiding Document further supports this effort, emphasizing collaborative, country-led approaches through various phases of cholera prevention, including plan inception, development, and monitoring. Complementing these documents, the Guidance on Integrating Community Engagement in National Cholera Plans encourages community involvement across four key phases to build trust, increase participation, and enhance tailored responses. Additionally, the Cholera Outbreak Response Field Manual serves as a practical resource for public health professionals and program managers, offering detailed protocols for detecting, monitoring, and responding to cholera outbreaks. With comprehensive coverage of epidemiology, case management, WaSH, logistics, community engagement, and risk communication, the manual includes tools such as line lists, field checklists, and water treatment guidelines, ensuring readiness for immediate response and long-term cholera prevention. Together, these resources provide a cohesive framework for nations to advance their cholera control initiatives in alignment with global best practices.

The document offers a Guided NCP Template, which includes recommended headings and detailed content suggestions developed in collaboration with GTFCC partners to meet established standards. Additionally, a Blank Template allows countries to customize their NCPs, enabling them to create plans that are country-led and responsive to their specific cholera epidemiology and strategic goals.

GTFCC Guidance on Integrating Community Engagement in National Cholera Plans: The Guidance for Integrating Community Engagement into National Cholera Plans provides a structured approach for countries to incorporate community engagement in cholera control strategies and outlines community-centered activities across four phases: Inception, Development, Implementation, and Monitoring. It emphasizes collaboration with local groups to foster trust, increase participation, and ensure effective, tailored cholera prevention.
4. Cholera Outbreak Response Field Manual: A resource designed to guide public health professionals and program managers in effectively detecting, monitoring, and responding to cholera outbreaks, this manual emphasizes a multisectoral approach, integrating epidemiology, case management, water, sanitation, hygiene (WaSH), logistics, community engagement, and risk communication. It offers sections on outbreak detection, confirmation, response organization, monitoring, risk communication, treatment facilities, case management, community spread reduction, oral cholera vaccination, and preparedness for long-term actions. Additionally, the manual includes practical appendices such as templates for cholera line lists, field investigation checklists, and guidelines for household water treatment, serving as essential tools for health professionals and organizations involved in cholera prevention and control efforts.
