About the Event
Hosted by the Institute for Global Tobacco Control (IGTC), the monthly Innovations in Tobacco Control lecture series welcomes key researchers and experts to share ideas, present their work, and spark discussion. Presented via Zoom, this month’s event welcomes Marit van Lenthe, MD, for a lecture entitled “Attracting Top Talent to Tobacco Control: The School for Moral Ambition.”
The lecture will be followed by a brief moderated Q&A and a recording of the event will subsequently be posted to IGTC’s YouTube channel.

Marit van Lenthe, MD
The School for Moral Ambition
Marit van Lenthe is a Medical Doctor who, after a career in clinical practice, focused on global public health. She worked for ten years as Medical Program Manager before chairing the Board of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) Netherlands. She was part of the International Board of MSF from 2018–2022. As independent consultant, she advised other medical NGO’s on governance structures, and as scenario-writer in pandemic preparedness for the Dutch government. Since 2024 she works as Senior Programme Manager for the School for Moral Ambition. The School wants to attract talented individuals to focus their career on the biggest problems of our time, and not continue in the traditional measures of career success, such as wealth or status. Marit leads the fellowships on Tobacco Control. In the first edition, 650 talents from 19 countries applied to quite their job and join this prestigious fellowship. 10 people were selected to join the Tobacco Control Fellowship.
