Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design

The Johns Hopkins Center for Bioengineering Innovation and Design (CBID), in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, is the perfect marriage between engineering, medicine, and public health. Using their world-renowned strengths in biomedical engineering and medicine, the center develops high impact new solutions for major challenges to human health around the world. Together, CBID and ICMNH faculty and students have embarked upon projects to design solutions to some of the most pressing issues in the health of women and neonates, including timely detection of preeclampsia during pregnancy, improved recognition of neonatal hypothermia (excessive loss of body heat), and developing low-cost monitoring devices for sick neonates.
