Two CHE Faculty Members Receive Promotions

Two Center for Health Equity (CHE) faculty members, Chiadi Ericson Ndumele, MD, PhD, MHS and Tanjala S. Purnell, PhD have recently been promoted to Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine in the School of Medicine and in the Department of Epidemiology in the Bloomberg School of Public Health, respectively.

A promotion to Associate Professor is a competitive process that requires a robust academic and research portfolio, support from the candidate’s Department Chair and tenured faculty, and review by an Ad Hoc Committee. After the candidate’s application has been reviewed, the appointed Ad Hoc Committee then submits a report to the Academic Council, which reviews all of the available information and makes a decision regarding promotion.

Drs. Ndumele and Purnell are both active with CHE and the Mid-Atlantic Center for Cardiometabolic Health Equity (MACCHE).
