About the Reports
Road traffic deaths and injuries represent a substantial challenge at a global scale. Accurate and up-to-date information serves as a critical resource, enabling governments and road safety stakeholders to implement evidence-based interventions to reduce the problem.
Underpinned by the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) and in collaboration with BIGRS partners across the world, JH-IIRU produces the comprehensive Status Summary Reports with the purpose of informing decision-making, fostering evidence-based interventions, and enhancing global efforts to improve road safety outcomes.

Kenya and Ethiopia
In Addis Ababa, key findings showed that 44%—nearly two out of five—of observed vehicles exceeded the enforced speed limit. In Mombasa, 1 in 4 or 23% of the observed vehicles were speeding, with heavy vehicles being the common type. These results emphasize the need for sustained and multifaceted efforts in both cities.
