Be sure to click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the page. You will receive a confirmation by email and further information (such as symposium Zoom link, detailed program schedule, etc.) will be sent to you.

  • Submission Information

    Please submit your work in written format: maximum 500 words in Times New Roman, 12 pt font (doc, docx, pdf) OR in recorded video format (ppt) no longer than 3 minutes. Your uploaded document can be 25MB maximum.

    If you choose a different format (i.e. video recording or powerpoint presentation with audio, which cannot be uploaded here) or the file is too large, please instead upload a Word Document with a file link (Youtube, Vimeo, etc.) to your recording where we can access the submission. And if that isn't an option for you, please email any material to be considered for the student competition in any of the categories to iciubot1@jhmi.edu.


    Please note: if you are a student, you can submit to any of the Student competitions (1 or ALL), and if you are a postdoc, you can submit material for the Postdoc competition.

How have you utilized and applied the 3Rs (core norms of good scientific practice, namely Rigor, Responsibility, and Reproducibility) to solve a problem in your research practice (in work settings such as the laboratory, clinical environments, etc.)?
Reflect on your most memorable R3 or R3-related course experience. What discussion or project was the most impactful for you and what did you take away from the experience? To what extent has it influenced your philosophy and ethics further?
Develop an example of responsible science communication in your field of study or interest. Give a real application or choose an example of mis- or dis-information from the literature and describe how you would instead communicate the content responsibly.
Discuss your insights on the following topics: Is competition good for science and why? What are the pros and cons of the current reward system in science and to what extent are the current measures of success appropriate/what would you change?
