There is a critical need for emergency care doctors in Pakistan and both Dr. Hyder and Dr. Razzak called for increased efforts to fill this gap and maximize the impact of emergency care.

Also on day one, JH-IIRU assistant scientist, Amber Mehmood participated in a plenary session, “Trauma emergencies: Innovations and challenges” and discussed innovative models of hospital-based trauma registries.  Dr. Razzak finished the first day by participating in a panel discussion, “Experience of heat-related emergencies in Karachi.”

The conference concluded with remarks by Mr Salim Hasham, Vice President Health Services, AKU as well as Dr. Razzak.
