Tax Leadership Program Brings Together Diverse Group

Published

In August, IGTC held its first in-person leadership program since early 2020.

The Western Pacific Regional Tobacco Tax Leadership Program, which took place in the Philippines, also marked IGTC’s first-ever leadership training based on a specific topic.

A diverse group of 45 participants from 10 countries came together for critical discussions on tobacco taxation. Four days of leadership trainings, technical sessions, and group activities aimed to accelerate the implementation of tobacco tax policies in the region.

The agenda included sessions about the health and financial benefits of tobacco taxation in the region as well as leadership training on developing a shared vision for overcoming challenges to making progress.

Participants not only learned more about how they can help implement new tax policies, but they also developed leadership, systems thinking and communication skills which can benefit them in their day-to-day work.
